SUPER FORSHIZZLE KITTEN, NOoOoOOooOooOooOOoOoOooooOoo!!! Quite a few sexist/racist people here and there, but that should never be a reason to drop a show! Overall, pretty good, but I want some answers and I want them quick! The Meow-End was sort of weird, but hopefully we’ll find out more about Hakkoo (interesting name btw). Poor Liang. All she wanted to do was re-enact Harry Potter with Alphard. She wanted to be the Heroin to her Hermione…

I’m wondering if Cummings is okay. I’ve never been shot with a pellet/NERF ball, but judging from his drop to the floor, they must have at least tickled *ba dum psh*. You never know with these crazy bitches Harry Potter fans!

The camera is back on Canaan (the real girl with chest-flat!), and she finds out that Alphard (leader of the Snakes), was captured by the CIA. She assumes Alphard will make it out somehow, so instead she is told to rescue some furries and take out all the Goombas she can find.

Enter the (obviously) evil corporation bent on destroying the world with synesthesia. Why, they’re so evil that they do their homework *:O*! Not only that, they make pretty good puns as well. Hot babe, punsters, people who do their homework, this group is on a mission, and part of that mission has something to do with Canaan.

Now that all the small talk has passed, it’s time for Canaan to open a CAN (hyuk) of Whoop-Ass! The fight scene is so spectacular that the audience doesn’t even realize they are in danger. Thanks to the power of those Super Mushrooms synesthesia, Canaan saved the day, but she was too late to save the last little furry-head.

Impressions:

Although I haven’t play Metal Gear Solid beyond 1 and 2, the beginning of the episode left me with that “War has Changed” impression from MGS4 (they have their brown-filter in check, that’s for sure). Overall a spectacular first episode! It may be too early to give it all this love, but when the animation, character expressions, and air of mystery hit you this hard, it’s not easy to do anything but shower it with praise. Even the spectators are pumped for this show! Of course, there are some similarities to other series that I’ve noticed with the character designs and plot, but I’m willing to throw that out the window and start fresh! YESH!

I like how there’s a quiet/possibly-mute girl with green hair, but those are just my tastes. Another fetish of mine are girls with funky upper lip… just sayin’ *blush*. Also very cute was that Lucky Star-like plushie. Maybe I’m just too old, but toys these days (or dolls rather) don’t make that cute squeaky noise anymore. Whatever happened to those?

I’ve been very distant from the Action genre (or rather, the really GOOD action genre), so Canaan at 13 episodes will be a fossilization forshizzilin’ ride!

One final note before the Fan Sketch: A tiny part of that song Canaan and Alphard were humming reminded me of this song. Any old timers thought the same?… don’t judge me.

Whenever I start a new show, the first fan sketches  are usually the worst, so this will be a little playful. WHO’S THAT POKEMON?!?!… to be honest, I’m not exactly sure who I drew! (hint: It’s Canaan)

Of course, Yui decides that she needs more money for snacks and Smirnoff, so she comes back to perform, except she had left her brain and guitar (Gitah) at home. Off she goes to catch it, but the performance is already underwearway.

She’s late! She’s late! She’s late for a very important performance! With all done and said (hyuk), she manages to perform for the last number. The crowd goes wild, and the show ends on a very moe-note! The End.

Impressions:

OH EM GEE WHITE ALBUM EPISODE 13 SYNDROME?!? Despite some funky (in a bad way) animation, this episode had a lot of cute scenes to keep the view satified, from eating an eyebrow, Mugi dressing in Chinese attire, Ui playing Yui’s role, childhood flashbacks (I love me sum flashbacks!), the very intimate smooching scene between Yui and Azu-nyan, and last but not least (but not really the best either) the performance. My expectations were set very high after the first music-video performance (episode 6 I believe), but it was still enjoyable. I guess it had a lot of corn-ball moments, but I’m especially fond of those!

Like I had thought, this was not the final episode. Looks like they will bring back the melodrama for next time (and I know this because I’ve already seen it…WHO HASN’T?!?)

I was going to draw Mio in a very pout-lipped manner (btw, for the record, I loved the crap-animation…), but I didn’t have the skills to pull it off. I did try to make something else bigger… :3 Her Fu-fu perhaps? Also, I probably went overboard with that digital inking. I’m still in the process of learning how to ink… and shade for that matter!

The critiques agree, HER COOKING SUCKS!!! Teo is especially harsh on her, calling her a slut, fat pig, and asked if she really did graduate culinary school. OH-NO-HE-DIH-N’T!!! Claudio decides to drop by, and like any woman in love, shes all over him, not giving Gigi a chance! Unfortunately, Claudio also tells it how it is. To lighten up that red-head of hers, Nicoletta decides to try the other dishes, and she was absolutely stunned by the taste. She has a long way to go, but you can’t stop a woman in love, so she keeps at it like a crack addict (let me hold you!)

Second round is up, and Nicoletta still does poorly. Now Teo is really mad and starts telling it how it is, but he is reminded of how is old higher up (Vanna) treated him. Flashback hit me one more time, we are back in the past and Teo does some more reminiscing. Alright, lets Reynolds wrap (hyuk) this up: Nicoletta gets better at cooking, somebody D-Blocked that out-of-place blue bottle, and Teo apparently is going out with that old lady who Nicoletta mistook for a guy. Guess he likes em’ rough!

Impressions:

What the heck is this? Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon? And has my jokes succumb to celebrity gossip? Tune in next Wednesday!… Okay, so I thought this episode was pretty good. I’m digging how each episode delves into everyone’s past/personality, but I’m not sure we’ll get to see everyone’s story in the NICK of time…at night *BA DUM PSH* Nicoletta was especially enjoyable this episode. The team is not letting up on those facial expressions, which continue to be a strong point in this show full of old men. I’m still a little uneasy about Teo being with that old lady, but perhaps its just her face that looks old. For all we know, shes really a teen or something… So what did we learn this episode? Love conquers all!

Next episode is gonna up-the-ante, up-the-yours, and up-the-scandalous!

Flashbacks come into play and we are taken back to Claudio’s shy-young-days. We learn of his great mishap of dropping a plate onto the most important person in that restaurant/hotel: Mrs. Rossi. As opposed to Furio, Mrs. Rossi is actually quite “rossi” as she forces Claudio to “pleasure her” to make up for the ruined dress. From this experience, Claudio becomes more fragile, as he is dropping plates everywhere! The main cook (Furio) notices that Claudio’s butter-fingerness was because he hadn’t eaten anything for awhile, so he cooks up something for him. The rest of the waiters ravishly take a bite of the food and are marveled by the taste. This leaves Claudio even more in the dumps because Furio is such an accomplished chef at a young age, while all hes ever done in life was drop plates and screw some fat chicks.

*grabs mic* YOU POOR UNFORTUNATE SOUL!!! ITS SAD... BUT TRUE!!!

While in despair, a really smokin’ hawt chick comes to tease Claudio abit more. Claudio’s all like “oh yea! I can tap dat!” but we find out that this hawt chick is in fact Furio’s fiance (Angela). Despite this, Angela gives him advice that makes him realize the changes he has to make with himself. Flashback is over and now we are back to the present, where Furio, Angela, and Claudio talk casually about the past (flashback again?). Some friend Furio is! He didn’t even remember Claudio worked in the same restaurant/hotel he cooked for. Fortunately, his wife did remember Claudio, but probably because you can never forget such a loser’s face. The End

Impressions:

You can never go wrong with flashback episodes (flashbacks that have new content, not those halfway-point-recap-eps. Those suck). I still can’t believe Claudio was woman-handeled, and the studio made it seem like a minor scene! Getting sexually harassed is a pretty big issue, and he played it off as nothing happened! In fact, theres absolutely no mention of that woman later on in the episode. Was that just some fan service filler? That scene could explain why he’s so timid, but then again he was timid to begin with. While this may seem sexist, it was a guy being harassed by a woman, but sexual harassment is still sexual harassment no matter who’s doing it!

I liked the chat between Claudio and Angela, especially her honest “You look like you’re begging to be picked on” line. I guess you can also apply that quote to me, for I am very much like Claudio (ie: a loser), but I’m still a v-gin unfortunately. You’d think that after getting laid he’d be more confident, but then again… okay enough Rosie jokes!

Well, I’ve been pretty busy with RL which is why my posts are behind (still need those two eps of Paradiso, 1 ep of K-ON and Haruhi which will become 2 eps soon -_-), so this sketch is also abit “sketchy” (ba dum PSH)… OKAY I CONFESS!!! Drawing old people ain’t easy! Especially when they’re in that CLAMP-style (no offense to CLAMP. Their style is just hard to replicate). So here’s the younger, more furious version of Furio:

At the mall, they visit the shop where they first bought Yui’s guitar (named Gitah supposedly). Everything is fixed, but Yui was also unaware that you had to pay for the deflowering of your instrument. Yui is all like “What? But I give service for free on the corner of the street! I have no money! Mugi help!” Leave it to beaver Mugi to work her charms on the store clerks. The service was then made free and that takes care of one mishap.

Ritsu (crackers… *BA DUM PSH*) is a bit jealous that Mio is hanging around Nodoka too much, so like any jealous high school girl would do, she spies on her! While Yui, Mio, and Nodoka have snacks at some random store, Ritsu and the others stalk them and plan to crash their party. Mio is getting annoyed by this childish Ritsu, and it continues to go downhill when they start to practice. Ritsu is losing her touch, and in a fit of rage, she goes home.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand what a "159" is?... or are?

Apparently, it was only a fever keeping that shinny head from doing her best, so Mio decides to check on her. They have a girl chat, and everythings back to normal, except for one minor detail: they had forgotten to fill out that auditorium-usage-sheet. Now it was Nodoka’s turn to give some free service, and with that they are ready to perform on stage. Except for another minor detail: the name of the club! With alittle help from Jesus Christ, Sawako-sensei dubs thee: Afterschool Teatime! The End.

Impressions:

WTF WORST NAME EVER?!?! So kawaii! This episode probably wasn’t my favorite, but you gotta have your drama in there somewhere. Yui was my highlight (not that shinny head) for this episode. I guess you could call her innocently stupid, or just stupid. While others may find Ritsu annoying, you have to understand it from her side. I’m almost certain that everyone once in their lifetime had that same feeling of being pushed to the side, be it a new baby brother/sister, your best friend’s new friend, or worse, your girlfriend’s new boyfriend! Not that any of this happened to me, even though I stated in the previous sentence that “I’m almost certain that everyone once in their lifetime had that same feeling of being pushed to the side.” You see, I mean that in a literal sense, as in, being pushed into lockers. Yes, lets get back to the episode:

5000 yen is approximately $50 correct? If so, damn! I think that’s a pretty good deal, seeing how I spent maybe $100 to get my clarinet fixed back in the 5th grade (it wasn’t even broken to begin with…). From all the Yui-mistakes in this episode, I can tell that she’s been smokin’ again. =( I really hope that by “Finale” they mean the final performance, and not the finale episode. Theres still some fan-sketches to be made! D=

Haruhi? Naw, never heard of her!

Its over one hundred fifty nine THOUSAAAAAANNNDDD!!!

Shades and Hajime decide to team up to defeat the doers of evil, and Hajime learns more about his Shady friend. He learns that he is in fact the son of the son of the father that they had saved back in time (in other words, the grandson?). Hajime concludes that no one disappears when they save a life, rather “having saved them made this time what it is.” With this bit of inspiration, they are off to defeat Kanako and kidnap Yayoi, a girl in a wheel chair. (Two glasses (or rather, 8 eyes) are better than one (hyuk).)

At Kanako’s base, Hajime and Shades decide to split up, but Kanako is already aware of their plans. When alone, she battles it out with Shades, and while it may seem he has the upper hand, Kanako tase-ed the bro when he least expects it. Hajime finds Yayoi and is ready to tie her up, but she wakes up and screams for help. Long story short: She tells him that Kanako isn’t a bad person even though for most of her flashback sequence shes still a female dog but just misunderstood. Kanako sees Hajime messin’ with her woman, so she strikes at him, but he accidentally connects (or… reverse raeps?) with Yayoi when their bodies “meat”. They do the whole flashy-back-in-time sequence, and cliffhanger does his thang.

Impressions:

Excellent episode! As mentioned before, the comedy would definitely drop, but the Murata Hideo revelation, the Yayoi/Kanako flashback, and even the cliffhanger made this an exciting episode. Maybe I’m praising it too much, but it did everything right. It also managed to fill a tiny bit of comedy after the credits. Kaja doing the Yayoi-book-sequence that I hate so much (not hate, just not enjoying as much as the rest of the content) was quite enjoyable.

I loved the flashback, and they managed to pull a lot of my strings. One was the dull color palette (cause you know, you gotta have a dull color palette when you do a flashback), the young-Disney Micky-Mouse faces, the baggy pants (girls with baggy pants ftw!), and giving us more info on Yayoi and Kanako. Its surprising to see that Arashi, Kaja, Yayoi, and Kanako all lived in the same time period, and I wonder if they really were related (probably not, but I would like to see more of the grudge that Kanako has with Arashi). Now that Hajime and Yayoi are back in time, we will find out what exactly happened on April 29th, 1945 (the date and time that confined Yayoi to a wheelchair).

Oh, and Kanako was freakin’ TERRIFYING in this episode! I love freckles… but she just bashed my fetish with a pogo stick! Word!

Well, I was a bit busy doing school-related business (ugh, financial aid -_-), so this sketch will be considered my super fast sketch. I still have other things to do (like blog K-ON), so please forgive me (btw, thats Kaja, not Arashi):

You know, that Sanrio joke is getting old...

Believe it or not, Azusa was right. They all go to the mall and shop for swimsuits (another thing that girls do btw), and once again, Azusa hisses like a duck. Mio, the healthiest girl of the bunch, tells her that they also need to relax (its what girls do), but it has to be on the beach, cause girls like beaches. Azusa willingly agrees, because its common for high school students to follow the girl with the biggest jugs, cause that’s what girls do in highschool: they all listen to the girl with the biggest jugs.

Now that they’re finally at the beach, they can finally make some lame movie references while having fun, cause girls just wanna have fun! Azusa is still abit hissy about this, but she learns to lighten up a bit, or should I say: darken down a notch? (don’t worry, I slapped myself after typing that)

After play-time, they finally do some practicing, and Azusa is finally satisfied. This is short lived when they make some rice balls, play with fireworks, have a test of courage, find Sawako Sensei dead on the dirt, and take a bath while re-enacting Shin-chan. Thankfully, Azusa is not the only one who wants to practice, cause believe it or not (believe it), Yui also wants to practice some more. Azusa realizes that Yui is not a complete ditz, she just a girl who wants to have fun (and practice).

*sniff* *sniff* I think Kitty needs a bath... *grin*

Impression:

What?! I have my own tea set and I’m not rich!… but that doesn’t matter! Sexist comments aside, I loved this episode… just like I loved the other beach episode… Seriously, I know that there’s a new character in this show, but we don’t have to replay everything for her! Mikoto probably puts it better than I can, but either way, I still loved this episode. I guess I’m a sucker for tan-girls.

Some tiny trinkets I liked were Azusa crossing the street. Although she’s supposed to look left/right and then left/right again, she still seemed pretty cute. Lets just ignore the fact that she was doing this while crossing the street.

Next episode should be butter, because I have some fond memories of fixing my instrument.

I'm also an Azu-nyan fan, so lets put a Sanrio on that face! ~nyan!

Meanwhile, it looks like Yayoi is still alive (darn it!) and our other mysterious character, Kanako the Freckles, is not satisfied with Detective Murata. Already 9 episodes and he still hasn’t captured Arashi like he was supposed to. Kanako expresses her anger by shooting a chi blast (no, seriously) and decides to do the job herself.

Hajime continues with his explanation, and told Arashi that it would be great if more people knew about the power of time travel. Arashi felt uncomfortable talking about this, because she feels others would use time travel for evil deeds. At the same time, Arashi feels like a hypocrite because when she saves someone, another person disappears (as in die). The shocking truth has Hajime speechless, while Arashi throws some water on the ground.

Later, Hajime kindly asks Arashi if they could go back in time (1985) and she willingly agrees. Long story short, they actually meet with the offspring of the person they saved, Arashi is relieved knowing this, and then Kanako the Freckles drains Arashi’s life energy while pointing a crossbow “gangsta-style” at Hajime’s big noggin.

Impressions:

Finally some progress! Now that we have a proper understanding of Kanako and Yayoi (sort of), I can say that they are not useless side-characters, but actually part of the story. To be honest, my absolute favorite part of the episode was the beginning and the end, and these two segments ironically had Yayoi and Kanako in it (I usually hate their segments in the show, for reasons explained in my Episode 8 summary). The beginning was great because Yayoi died, and i was like “YEAA!!! THATS WHAT YOU GET FOR FORGETTING THE NAME OF THOSE BOOKS!” and I loved the ending for her “*panic* I MUST TELL HER THE CATCHPHRASE” quote. For once, I actually knew the reference she was talking about (of course most would understand given the popularity of Despair).

Although there will probably be less comedy, I like where things are going. Lets hope next episode isn’t a bore-fest.
